Facelift
As we age, the natural loss of fat around the cheeks, lower eyelids and neck often changes facial features, leading to laxer neck muscles, cheekbones and jawlines. At the Andochick Center for Cosmetic Surgery, we have perfected our facelift procedures to help reverse these signs of aging through a comprehensive suite of cosmetic surgery techniques. By lifting and tightening underlying fat and muscles and removing excess adipose tissue, Dr. Andochick can help restore youthful contours with natural results — giving you back confidence and rejuvenating your look!
Reasons for Considering A Facelift
- Loss of jawline definition
- Aged, tired or weathered appearance
- Loose and sagging skin on the face and neck
- Deep wrinkles and creases around the cheeks and neck
The Recovery Process
Please adhere to your surgeon's directives to ensure a successful and lasting recovery from your surgery. Furthermore, take into consideration the following aspects for optimal care:
- For the first 24 hours, your face will be wrapped in a facelift bandage to limit swelling and reduce bruising
- We recommend you have a friend or family member assist you during the postoperative period
- In most cases, we ask our patients to limit activity for at least a week to minimize potential problems and heal following the procedure
- Small drains may be placed at the time of surgery and are usually removed within two days post-op
- Oral pain medication can effectively manage and alleviate any pain or discomfort you may experience
Browlift
One of the natural effects of aging is slight sagging in the brow area caused by excess skin in the upper eyelids. To restore youthful elevation and arch to this region of the face with minimal scarring, patients often turn to Botox or Dysport injections. However, when more significant rejuvenation is desired, a browlift can be performed via well-concealed incisions within your hairline to improve contour and reduce unwanted creases.
Reasons for Considering A Browlift
- Reduce the wrinkle lines that develop horizontally across the forehead, on the bridge of the nose and between the eyes
- Improve frown lines
- Raise sagging brows
- Place the eyebrows in a youthful position
The Recovery Process
Following your surgeon's guidelines is essential for a full and rapid recovery from your browlift surgery. To ensure long-term success, please consider additional factors:
- Please ask a loved one to drive you home following the procedure
- We recommend having a friend or family member assist you during the postoperative period
- Stitches can typically be removed within seven to ten days post-op
- Allow a week off work and strenuous activity for proper healing and lasting results
- We advise you to refrain from using saunas and hot tubs for several months after the procedure
Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
The eyes are the focal point of our face and often one of the first areas to show signs of aging. An upper lid blepharoplasty is a popular procedure used to remove excess skin, fat and muscle in the eyelid region. This relatively short operation is conducted under local anesthesia and strives to restore a more rested and youthful appearance with minimal discomfort.
On the other hand, patients may also require lower eyelid blepharoplasty for excess fatty bulges in the undereye area; this procedure requires general anesthesia but provides significant improvement that can last for years if proper aftercare instructions are followed!
Reasons for Considering Eyelid Surgery
- Dark circles or undereye bags
- Excessive skin or wrinkles surrounding the eyelids
- A tired appearance or puffiness due to inherited factors
The Recovery Process
Please follow your surgeon's post-op advice for the best possible recovery from eyelid surgery. However, to maintain those results for years to come, it is also important to consider the following:
- You may experience swelling, tearing of the eyes, blurry vision and/or sensitivity to light during the first few weeks
- Please refrain from wearing contacts for up to two weeks
- Upper eyelid procedures can cause mild to moderate swelling and bruising to the eye area for the first few days that gradually diminishes over the first week after the procedure
- Lower eyelid blepharoplasties can cause mild to moderate swelling and bruising to the eye area
- Undereye puffiness can take up to eight weeks to fully heal and show final results
