The Recovery Process
To ensure lasting results, following your physician's instructions closely and attending any necessary post-operative appointments is essential. Moreover, please take into account that:
- Swelling and puffiness may occur during the first 24 to 48 hours
- Aches and headaches are common side effects of rhinoplasty and can be treated effectively with oral pain medication
- A splint, bandages and/or gauze are applied immediately following surgery to aid in the healing process and minimize nose movement
- Bruising around the eyes could increase after surgery; it typically reaches its peak after three days
- Most swelling and bruising should diminish within two weeks
- We advise you not to blow your nose for at least a week following surgery to allow tissues to heal
- If you feel a sneeze coming, try to open your mouth; this will reduce the pressure on your nose
